[IDOLOGY] Taeyeon - '11:11' Single Review (2016) 본문
PICK! Kim Yoonha:
If you ask me if this song is a representative song of Taeyeon, I will reply that it definitely isn't, but if you ask me if this is the proper song that allows you to know of Taeyeon's charm, then I will reply that it very much is. With the nickname 'SM's civil servant', from group and solo, to company single projects and drama OSTs, having activities restlessly, and taking on any concept without being lacking, for the first time she unwinds out of each of her captured poses and sings with a voice that is close to her daily life. It is languid, but it requires a high-class skill. She sings as if being 'sick of singing' in the chorus - which is light, somewhat affectionate, without energy, and is lightly filled with an air-like humming. I am impressed by Lee Joohyung, a vocal director who has brought this degree of sensitivity and emotion by exposing character and vocalists to the public.
Yummy Fajita:
There are a lot of vocalists in the idol scene, but I don't think anyone can mimic Taeyeon's vocals, because as soon as you hear the song, you're immersed in it. It's a simple, light song that consists of a simple composition. You feel it's so short and in an instant, you're immersed in it, but the vocals and acoustic guitar evoke tension that is so intense, so when the song is over, it gives you an ironic sense of freedom.
Yoo Jesang:
When watching Taeyeon's solo activities, I always feel surprised at the degree of cleverness. She maintains a unique color without deviating from Girls' Generation's keynote. Like an idol, but I can feel how much her style isn't (like an idol). And yet (this is important), she does not overdo herself as an artist. It would be impossible without her skills and wisdom to reveal something softly as an artist where solo activities are shown off by different idols from similar years. "11:11" is not very different from the existing Taeyeon solo, but it has the strength to deepen the above-mentioned thoughts.
Hamchwa:
Should I say that releasing such a song as a single clearly shows what position Taeyeon has right now? It doesn't fascinate the audience as strongly as "I" does. It is like busking: a song that relies on the melody of an acoustic guitar. It has the charm to make you listen motionlessly till the end. Without any greed for special musical achievement, it is a song that is more like Taeyeon as it feels more faithful to the singing itself. Taeyeon clearly draws out a distinctive picture from "Girls' Generation's Taeyeon" with the two directions not colliding or being awkward. She keeps showing us steps that look easy but never are.
